Sourav Ganguly, former India captain unveils "Funding Carnival" for Aspiring Entrepreneurs in the city

Coimbatore : Former India Captain Sourav Ganguly launched the "funding carnival" for aspiring and budding entrepreneurs in Tamilnadu in the presence of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the real "Padman" of India, a social entrepreneur.

The event is being presented by TiE Coimbatore, powered by NAN-Nativelead and PSG Step and supported by Chennai Angels and Kongu TBI.

The funding carnival titled “Mudaleetu Thiruvizha” is meant for budding entrepreneurs, and bringing ideators, start-ups and young ventures on a common platform with investors said G. Karthikeyan, President, and TiE, Coimbatore

"This carnival will create an opportunity for start-ups and individuals with innovative ideas to pitch their projects to potential investors. TiE is a global organization fostering and nurturing entrepreneurship in addition to mentoring the upcoming startup companies" he said

According to G. Karthikeyan, President of TiE “Although the event is Open to residents and start-ups located in Tamil Nadu, the broader motive is to make it highly inclusive by reaching the hinterland, where entrepreneurs and ideators have very limited or no exposure to equity-based funding”

The applicants of the preliminary round will be categorized into 4 regions of Tamilnadu – North, South, East, and West. Applicants who are residents of Tamilnadu or have their venture based out of Tamilnadu can apply for the event.

Applicants have to fill an online application form. This will be followed by a process of elimination in which ideas that have scope for equity funding will be shortlisted. The ventures that have been shortlisted will then need to make a pitch to a panel of representatives from Funding agencies. Post this stage, they will be given opportunities to directly pitch to one or multiple funding agencies who are part of the organizers. The pitching session will be held at Coimbatore 31st March. 

“We are looking for ideas or start-ups which hold the promise of rapid scaling up and require incubation support along with funding,” says Mr. Suresh, the project chairman for this event.

“Many tier 2 and tier 3 towns are teeming with ideas that solve a lot of day to day challenges, but they do not see the light of day due to lack of access to funding. Mudaleetu Thiruvizha will give a great opportunity to these ideas and individuals” adds Mr. Karthikeyan.

The last date of receipt of application is 10th March 2018. Funding will be subjected to fulfillment of all the conditions stipulated by the Funding Agencies/Investors
